Catherine & Michael's Wedding

Catherine and Michael's wedding was last Saturday at the Museum of Nature and I have to say, it was one of my prettiest designs to date. Designing in the Third Floor Gallery at the Museum can be tricky. The exposed ceilings, pure white walls and poured concrete floors make for a massive loft-style area with TONS of potential, but it can be very cold and takes a lot of designing to warm it up. We really wanted to find the unique balance between cold loft and warm, romantic and almost traditional design. I think we did a great job of it in the end. I thought the right approach was to keep a traditional colour palette and materials, but warm it up a bit with whimsical botanical elements and pops of contemporary design...

Large chiffon panels billowing across the ceiling bordered with ivy, rose gold and champagne sequin accent tables mixed in with ivory and soft gold satin linens (and emerald green satin napkins for a hint of gem tone colour), mercury glass votives of candlelight surrounding whimsical arrangements of white blooms bursting with greenery, and special touches everywhere like the bride's mother's bible tied into her bouquet to walk down the aisle with at Church. The whole wedding was a dream, and the party was pretty damn good too.

Pictures to come of the real day, but here is a sneak peek into the design boards and colour palettes I made for them when we first started building their dream day.
