Happy New Year everyone!
I've been neglecting the Satin & Snow blog over the last few weeks. I decided to run away for Christmas instead of spending it in -25 degree Celsius weather here in Ottawa. I kidnapped a friend of mine and we disappeared into the California coastline. 58 towns and 2.5 weeks later, we got back to Ottawa just in time for me to go straight to Toronto for a monstrous luxe wedding show (pictures to come!).
After spending the last two weeks getting back in sync with my wedding clients and preparing for my first wedding show, I am back in action and ready to bring you all sorts of pretty inspiration - starting with three style boards I designed for a new couple of mine last week!
This style board has a very traditional Southern feel to it. Using classic textures and colors (standard silk linens and blush, taupe and champagne tones) , lots of neutrals and a more classic style of floral arrangements, this style is all about Southern sophistication.
Certainly for a more formal, traditional affair, I thought it would be best to try to relax the look a little more as the couple is a wonderful combination of traditional and contemporary.
This style board transports me right to the French countryside of my imagination. I picture organic textures like raw heather grey linens and hand-dyed ribbons mixed in with contemporary calligraphy on letterpress.
I really love the botanical elements to this board - the loose, cascading bunches of greenery and flora make everything fresh and whimsical but doesn't overwhelm the natural beauty in all the other elements.
This board was our happy medium between the Southern traditional board (#1) and botanical French board (#2). It incorporates the clean lines and textures in the first board and most of the same color palette of taupe and blush with champagne, but incorporates a little more of the whimsy from the second board.
We are going with a slightly bolder palette, incorporating lots of natural greenery for a bit of a punch, and mixing in a little more glamour by adding more metallic textures (hello gold!).
