Satin & Snow Autumn Inspiration Board

Satin & Snow Autumn Inspiration Board

I've got an itch. An itch to do a styled shoot. I haven't wanted to do one in a long while. I find them to be really high amounts of stress in short amounts of time and I am often left dissatisfied with the result. Possibly because I don't have access to the particular decor, venues or vendors that my idols have (Parisian cobblestone streets, Italian vineyards and English castles to name a few), and possibly because I'm still a growing designer and learning from my mistakes... I'm not sure but it's likely the latter. Regardless, I've been a little discouraged by styled shoots this year, but I'm feeling like it's time to try my hand again. Something of higher quality, more organic, less busy. Time to start producing the kind of work that I want to be featuring, rather than someone asking me to do it for their purposes. It's time for a "me" project.

I'm thinking that I'll pick that sweet time right as the leaves start turning gold and the air gets a little more crisp. I love the look of moody, dusty blues and ambers. Maybe a little mauve for good measure. What do you think my inspiration board so far? It's a work in progress, I'll probably make a few more to compliment it, but I think you can catch the drift. I know the colour palette I made in the corner is quite light, but picture those colours spilling out of a votive mixed with golden Japanese Maple and Burgundy Lace Japanese Maple, with brass candle sticks and tapered ivory candles casting a warm glow on a dark oak table. Throw in some hand-torn silk ribbon in shades of dusk and grey and we've got ourselves a winner.
