The Ottawa Wedding Show
Wondering whether to make it down to The Ottawa Wedding Show this weekend? Well, we are here, reporting live on our favourite booths and vendors to check out! We made it today at 1pm, just a hair too late for the fashion shows, but we have lots of great pictures and had a blast. Here are some of our top moments from the Saturday show:
First of all, we were really impressed with all the paper design throughout the whole event. The website was our first glimpse of the fun graphic design, which also happened to feature lots of wonderful images from one of our fave photographers at the event: Laura Kelly! Her booth was right at the entrance of the show for all to behold.
That's Laura on the left (and Brittany on the right). We loved Laura's booth with her trademark contemporary chic style. Her signature sea foam green played a role everywhere from the gorgeous albums, signage and the backdrop (which had the sweetest wainscotting and hardwood floors so it felt like you were standing in her living room the whole time). Congratulations Laura on your fabulous booth and features in the Ottawa Sun and on the show's website!
Hopefully you'll be lucky enough to win the free engagement session she was offering!
Our next stop was to see some pretty fabulously attired gentlemen. Surmesur just opened up in August and we couldn't be more thrilled for the men in our lives. Peter Lloyd Greer and his team offer completely custom suits, tailored and designed specifically for you. They take into account your eye colour, complexion, haircut, everything... things men never seem to consider when buying a suit but women would never forget to check. The store, located on Slater and O'Connor is the third Surmesur location and we can't wait to work with them soon to outfit our grooms and basically any man we can find.
Just look at these handsome guys...
Here's Peter, looking very suave.
And Aaron... looking awfully handsome in his blue bespoke suit and trendy glasses. He gave us some line about having just woken up and was asked last minute to help out at the booth this morning. Sorry Aaron, we don't buy it.
Next up was a company that we've been hearing some buzz about online for a few weeks now. Alfred & Co. had one of the prettiest booths at the show. They are an online boutique carrying high-end consignment goods. We were seriously impressed with their style and taste.
Quick shout out to Efhamar & Sienna who wasn't here today, but her work was featured in the Alfred & Co. booth. It's a company that we've been working with recently that carries these fantastic oversized letter balloons and a bunch of other amazing handmade decor for weddings and parties. Her site is great and the products are gorg!
We also passed the Bloomfields Flowers booth. Their floral studio is based in the Glebe and we can't avoid stopping there anytime we're in the area. We love their creative, organic and whimsical designs, and the their booth featured gorgeous autumn-inspired arrangements.
Oooh, and we can't forget The Handmade Bride! We always look forward to seeing their ultra-colourful and creative booths at the local wedding shows.
Stonefields is one of our favourite venues of all time. Located in Carleton Place, they have one of the prettiest properties around that features large stone buildings and farmhouses, lovely gardens and a massive tent that gives you a great outdoor experience with a little bit of luxury. Stephanie and Steve, the owners, are amazing people and we had some spectacular weddings with them this season. Stephanie's back there, you just can't see her. She explained that her booth this year was meant to mimic what you can see at Stonefields: the billowing white tent with the chandelier were a perfect touch!
We were particularly impressed with how Creative Studio made this living moss table runner with birch tree accents. Great touch and compliment to the burlap linen!
We also thought that Dayna's Pet Sitting had a great idea. How many of you want to have your dog be your ring bearer but don't know what to do with Sparky after the ceremony? Dayna will be there on your wedding day to take care of him!
Here's her own pup!
We also stopped by the beauty bar, where the girls got to get their eyebrows done, microdermabrasion, and hair styling.
At the back of the beauty bar was an actual bar, featuring Pinnacle Cotton Candy Cosmopolitans and our favourite, the Pinnacle Lemon Meringue Cocktail that had whipped cream flavoured vodka mixed with lemonade.
We also ran into Next, a restaurant in Stittsville that also acts as a venue that Catalina is very fond of (and Brittany plans to go to soon). Next actually holds a special place in Catalina's heart. Catalina met her husband, Darren, there five years ago. Now they are happily married and Darren owns The Cookery Bistro in Kanata.
The show also had a Gentlemen's Lounge with furniture from LouLou Lounge Furniture Rentals. Meant as a space for the guys to chill out while their ladies get to vendor shop.
And here's Brittany sneaking into the Gentlemen's Lounge... That's her conniving face.
And that's a wrap! It was great to see all our industry friends there. There were a few more friends that we didn't get pictures with but wanted to mention anyway: Scott, Brian and Nicole from Quality Entertainment, Aquatopia Water Garden Conservatory, and RedNails, a mobile salon that offers hair, makeup and manicures out of their very trendy bus. We really loved everyone's booths and were sorry we didn't have more time to feature everyone!
Hope you all have a chance to get to the show tomorrow if you missed it today, and for those who got to go, tell us how you liked it!
