Wedluxe 2016 Wedding Show: La Dolce Vita at Carlu
This show always blows my mind a little. It's SO EXTRAVAGANT! The Wedluxe Magazine wedding show always caters to luxury brides, and this show did not fail. It was their fifth annual and this time it was at The Carlu, a modern event space that they created 7 different feature rooms each boasting a different theme, and additional rooms and halls housing the vendor booths. I've broken down 4 of the rooms as they were the most over-the-top of them all, and then have a section featuring everything else I saw at the show. The snippets are from the program we received at registration foyer.
"Defined as extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world, the word 'ETHEREAL' evokes a sense of rare beauty that is both refined and exquisite. Rachel A. Clingen Wedding & Event Design, Fine Cakes by Zehra and Laura & Co. Events have united once again to create an original installation feature area that this year's WedLuxe Show ETHEREAL LOVE showcases a larger-than-life floral masterpiece, a radiant all white tablescape, and the angelic piece de resistance... The Dolce Ambrosia Cake, complete with fine-art 4ft. sugar crafted wings."
Under the Tuscan Sun
"Our 'Under the Tuscan Sun' Grand Entry was designed by Rachel A. Clingen Wedding & Event Design and features thousands of roses, fresh lemons and fragrant greenery."
Palazzo Floreale Flower Market
"At our Grand Palazzo Floreal, you will receive your very own keepsake posy of premium blooms and a copy of the newest issue of WedLuxe Magazine."
The House of Juliet Trattoria
"Inside the House of Juliet Trattoria, we will celebrate the cuisine and drama of Italy with nods to Verona and Venice with food, art and thousands of roses! Sample Italian cuisine, presented market-style by our presenting sponsor Oliver & Bonacini Events and Catering including a live demonstration of chefs 'pulling' fresh mozzarella and hand-garnishing samples with a variety of toppings. You can also sample hand-rolled Ricotta Gnocchi. Mangia! Mangia! La Dolce Vita will also be realized with complimentary gelato, courtesy of Hotel Gelato and an Italian Soda Bar courtesy of FireDog Creative. Bellissimo!"
The Rest of the Show
There were a couple more themed rooms like the Beauty Bar where you can get your hair and makeup touched up and The Saint Lucia Sweet Life Cocoa Bar that had delicious salted caramel hot chocolates and the best cupcakes I've EVER had in my ENTIRE life by Patricia's Cake Creations, but I didn't take enough pictures to put them in separate categories so here they are, among the dozens of other images I took from booths in the halls and rooms within the show. Enjoy!
My Favourite Display was...
This beautiful modern romantic set up. The entire show is colourful, over-the-top extravagant and luxurious... which isn't really my own taste. I can recognize and love it for what it is, but I wouldn't do it for myself and my brides don't typically like it. However, this table stood out in my mind because of it's whimsical white and green florals with my ever-favourite ranunculus and anemomes, white tapered candles, white ornate mirrors, white draping, modern acrylic chairs, and the brilliant touches of black and white stripe on the dishware and ribbon in the centerpiece. The contemporary calligraphy on the place card made my heart sing a little and all in all, I think they did an incredible job.
And that's a wrap! Looking forward to next year's show already. This one felt a little smaller than years past and didn't have as strong of an emphasis on fashion, and it worked. I miss the show being in the big ballrooms at the Royal York as I think it really lent more extravagance to the event as a whole and hope they go back, but I really did have a good time.
All photos by moi - please excuse weird colours and poor shots: I'm still learning how to shoot and don't have a flash so that was a learning experience considering I shoot manual.
